----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello again everyone! For those who are wondering what's up for Tuesday's
meeting, here's the skinny. You may want to make note that this month's
meeting is more group-business oriented, and not a "normal" meeting per se.

For those who don't know, a couple of the board members (myself included)
have recently changed jobs and our lives have become significantly more
hectic. Even before that time, I've been wanting to make some changes in
the way things get done with the group to help spread out the burden so that
one or three people aren't doing the whole thing.

In an effort to ease said burden, I thought it would be great if we took a
break and had a group brainstorming session. It should be pointed out that
since this month's meeting is not a "normal" one, people should understand
that we won't really be talking about nerdy type stuff, and more about
process and procedure about the group's running. Think of it as a big board
meeting. The people who I'd like to show up are anyone who would like to
offer input on how the group should be run and those wishing to volunteer
time. Others are more than welcome to show up, but just be prepared for the
topic at hand.

Just to give you a highlight of the things I'd like to cover, I've listed a
few brainstorming things the board has been thinking about over the past
month or so.

	* A speakers group -- This group would organize the monthly general
meeting topics, schedule speakers, send out announcements etc. No
more than 3 people on this group.

	* Assistants to the "Getter of Free Things" -- This group would be
people who enjoy doing cold-calls or cold-emails. They would work
with Bill Marlin who is in charge of making sure we have cool things
to give out to members for door prizes and free media for
InstallFests etc. This group could be as large as 5.

	* InstallFest Team -- This group would be an extension to the board
(actually...all of these would be) that would assist the board in
organizing volunteers for InstallFests, coordinating with other
committees about having supplies on-hand, making sure tables and
other needs got rented or reserved etc.

If any of these jobs sound interesting to you, I'd encourage you to show up.
Anyone is welcome to volunteer, from the newest newbie, to the seasoned
Linux guru. I would hope that someone who volunteered for a leadership
position wouldn't spend more than 3-5 hours per month doing their job, and a
non-leadership person would only spend 1 hour or so per month doing group
related things.

I'd also encourage people to show up who simply have opinions (as well as
solutions...you can't complain about something without having at least one
solution or alternative) about how things should be done to show up. We
need input and brilliant ideas.

As always, if you have any questions, visit our web site, or drop a note on
the NBLUG Talk list! See you on Tuesday!

-Dustin
