There are redhat scripts in the packaged source's "etc" directory and
instructions for Redhat users in the README for making and usng an rpm
file from the tree.

For me, I just used debian's dselect and pulled out the standard userland
nfsd startup script and replaced it with a knfsd startup script that is
supposed to use the newer kernel based nfsd service. I examined the
differences between the rh scripts that came with nfs-utils 0.3.1 and the
debain to see if there were any differences and change them.

Documentation took a while to find. It is not in the Docs section on
sourceforge, but can be found: http://nfs.sourceforge.net/
including a more recent NFS howto.

It has a section you may want to examine:
http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/troubleshooting.html

It appears I have knfsd working on this server and I have not really been
able to reproduce some of the errors you reported unless I broke or
disabled some of the things that should have been running. The above howto
suggests some things you can try on your server.

Tomorrow I will probably push forward and make a new client root tree for
the diskless clients and then test it out with a linux client that can do
v2 and v3.

If you are not too far from RP (time-wise) I might be able to make a visit
to you and poke your server settings. Let me know.
