Well, I managed toi get around to playing with WEP with the Linksys WAP
and found it does not seem to work with Linux.

Seems to point to the cause as being one that the Linksys WAP only
supports WECA Compliant authenticatiuon.

Other than a lack of WEP, and the previous message on needing to install
the beta firmware, it is not too bad.

Another item that came up was on an issue with people using the WAP to
connect up directly up to their DSL ISP that uses PPPoE to the WAP LAN
port. They needed to decrease MTU to 1492 to deal with the 8 byte overhead
of PPPoE for frame transmits - problem was only obvious with large frames
needed in downloads of files with users on PPPeoE.

The forum is very nice.

Just in case other were looking at WAPs, and linux functionality, thought
it best to include the recent less than ideal findings.

Enjoy,
