OK. This is SPAM to you, as it is unsolicited, and is on a commercial
topic, but one that I *think* at least a few of you would want to know
(OpenSource) and that is related to Linux etc.

http://www.revolution-os.com/

I asked about Rev OS, and it looks like they may have a Region Free
(Region 0) encoding of the DVD based on the response. I have attached the
reply from them for you all to read if you wish.

If you dont like this movie, then at least you have been able to see it.
I have not, so cannot offer my opinion. (It seems the reviews show it at
about 75% liking it, and 25% not liking it averaging a few movie review
sites review stats.)

A followup letter was sent asking about what is involved in showing the
VHS version for group audiences (such as a LUG) as well as answer his
questions. If you want, I can post that reply here too. (Waiting for the
reply right now.)

Would this be a movie that people in this LUG would be willing to watch at
one of the meeting nights?

Thank you for inquiring about REVOLUTION OS. We are currently planning
to release the DVD and videotape sometime in September. I am pushing
the distributor to get the film out sooner. We intend to make the DVD
Region Free.

The distributor has yet to set a price, but I'm guessing it will be
between $22 and $25 plus shipping and tax. I will try and let you know
when REVOLUTION OS becomes available.

Also, in the next couple of months, my distributor will begin
selling educational/institutional VHS copies of REVOLUTION OS with a
license permitting large group screenings for schools and LUGs. If you
are interested, please let me know.

You can check out the trailer and first 8 minutes of REVOLUTION OS on ifilm:

How did you hear about REVOLUTION OS? I'm always curious to know.

Sincerely,

J.T.S. Moore
