Some of you may have used AOL Instant Messaging, MSN Messenger, Yahoo
Messenger, icq, irc, or other chat based systems within windows/MacOS.

If you are looking for a good prgram that can do all of these in one
product, you may want to check out "gaim".

If you want to try an text-based console-style instant messaging system,
you may want to try centericq which takes some time to get up to speed
with using, but works very fast over slow connections and on slower
machines.

About 6-10 days ago, yahoo changed their messaging protocol, and this
broke the ability to send/receive messages in gaim/centericq. A bug
report was submitted, and the problem seems to be fixed in the cvs
downloadable version, but not yet in any prepackaged version.
