Thanks everyone for the DSL answers. I still need to digest all of it.
:-)

On a completely unrelated note, I was wondering if anybody could comment
on the relative merits of different "virtual server" options. I am
referring to situations where a "customer" gets the illusion of having
root access on their own computer. Some of the options I have found in my
research so far are:

Systems where there is only one kernel running:

  http://www.solucorp.qc.ca/miscprj/s_context.hc
  http://www.rsbac.org/models.htm#jail
  http://www.sw-soft.com/products/virtuozzo/

Systems where multiple kernels are running:

  http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/
  http://a386.nocrew.org/

Systems where the entire hardware is virtualized:

  http://plex86.sourceforge.net/
  http://www.vmware.com/

Systems where the enire hardware is emulated:

  http://bochs.sourceforge.net/
  http://www.connectix.com/

I haven't tested any of these yet. I was hoping to save some time by
asking you kind folks. :-)

Can you comment on any of the above?

Are there other options I should be looking at?

Andru
