For disposing of monitors, CRC is the cheapest option in town.  County
landfill wants more to get rid of a monitor than CRC wants.

The 1 to 11 pounds of lead in a CRT (about 2lbs for a typical monitor)
apparently leaches into ground water quite readily, so monitors must not go
into landfills.  If you try to dispose of a monitor (or most electronics)
via curbside pickup, you're likely to get fined.
