Glad to know you got it working!  Samba server can be a daunting program
to configure and troubleshoot.  I had it working well enough to know
that it worked for me and that was about it.

I did find webmin (http://webmin.com) an invaluable resource for
configuring samba.  It also configures a lot of other things.  You might
want to check it out.
