i suppose it depends on your definition of few. and there are two sets
of officers, elected and appointed. elected are elected by the members
and appointed are appointed by the elected officers. which sounds pretty
fair to me.

if you need someone to organize a field trip it would be much easier and
efficient to just appoint someone to that temporary position rather than
holding an election.

anyone can be nominated, and thus anyone can be elected, so the few
elected officers don't have to be power users.

i think that really depends on the people involved. everyone is
different, but the people that we have now i think are very open and
friendly to people that they meet in and out of the linux world.

there are levels of democracy, but i think nblug's way of doing it is
pretty democratic, and i think they are a fine (dis)organization that is
trying its best to do a good thing.
