[NBLUG/talk] Wireless ?

Is your concern specifically the cellular *phone* itself? If so, you can
get cellular modems that do not require a cell *phone* to connect. They are
data only and aren't too exorbitantly priced.

Otherwise, I think Ricochet got bought by someone who's putting up towers
and stuff, but they're not outside the SF Metro area I think.. The other
option would be to do some kind of satellite data service, but that gets
ridiculously difficult to set-up and quite expensive, and most difficult to
move from place to place.

Really I think your best option is a cellular modem. It's basically a
PCMCIA card that will connect to the cellular network. AT&T and Verizon
have the best coverage areas, I think AT&T is a little more cellular modem
friendly, from what I hear.

Hopefully this helps.

Subject: [NBLUG/talk] Wireless ?

Anyone have a good suggestion regarding some type of wireless access without
using a cell phone? I need my sales people to be able to connect to the
Internet pretty much wherever they are at.

Thanks,
