eek.  You're ahead of me here.  I don't really understand the
differences between the various image formats, although I know some
have certain advantages over others.

Hmmm... It sounds like you're saying the offset is built into the
original? (Weird)

It didn't occur to me that different formats would yield different
results (& I don't think I believe it).  If I have time, I will try
some stuff with a .ps file and see what IM coughs up.

Just so I get it straight, though:  you want to clip a 500x700 section
out of a postscript file and make it into a .png file (sized
500x700).  Right?
