[NBLUG/talk] fedora c1 and firebird0.7 and gaim0.75

I'm running fedora core 1 on a dell inspirion 2500.
recently I was updating
my system. I had been using mozilla firebird for a
long time but I had never
been able to get the flash plug-in running. So I
decided to reinstall
mozilla, which went fine, and then I installed an rpm
that the flash plug-in
required (it was a c library I believe) and then the
flash plug-in itself. I
run firebird ansd everything is peachy. So I log out
of root and shut down
the computer. The next day I turn the computer on and
login to my main user,
and both firebird and gaim wont run. I don't know why
gaim was effected. I
see the little login screen, and then it disappears.
So I went back to root
and tried running gaim and firebird, and the same
thing happened with gaim.
In both cases I hear the harddrive do something but
firebird never starts
up. I also tried running firebird trough the command
line.

Anyone know why these two programs arnt running? Also
it seems to be alittle
sluggish, is there anyway to fix that?
