Hello,

~ I just upgraded to SuSE 9.1 Professional, and the Orinoco card runs
my Netgear card in my desktop. My laptop has a Senao card for which I
had to do a little configuring but which now works happily on my home
ad-hoc network. While it has its drawbacks, the 9.1 distribution
overall works better than before; a SoundBlaster MP3 USB soundcard
which had been dead until now came to life when I upgraded, and its
software upgrade feature worked better than any previous version-
still needs work but getting there. Kismet is about all I can't seem
to get to work, but other than that it works fine.

~ It helps to have equipment which is known to work with Linux. The
following websites:
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Linux.Wireless.drivers.html#notsup
http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz
should have the information to help find a card which works under
Linux. If I were to do it over I'd go with cards which run natively
with the Orinoco driver but prism2 cards can be made to work also;
it's just a bit more time-consuming.
