I agree with all Troy's suggestions about what to consider turning off, but
would like to suggest also considering these:

dhcpd - unless you're actually running a dhcp server you should only need
the "dhclient" program, not the dhcpd server.

dhisd - Do you really need this?  It's a daemon for updating Dynamic DNS; if
you're not running a server on your laptop this shouldn't be needed.

ifplugd - Sounds kinda cool to have the network reconfigure automatically
when you plug and unplug; how often do you actually do this, however?  ifup
and ifdown aren't that hard...

Also, instead of "pstree", try "ps axv --sort=-rss" -- that'll show your
highest memory-usage processes at the top of the list so you can figure out
which things you gain the most by trimming.
