[NBLUG/talk] Trying to explain sudden computer death...

Sounds like a failed power supply, but just to be sure, check the voltage 
switch: 110/220. I once had an experience where a machine that travelled came 
back to our office and several of us worked on it for days before someone 
noticed the switch had been moved.
