Thanks for bringing up the upcoming Spring Linux courses at Santa Rosa Junior College! This is Eric Skagerberg, emerging from lengthy lurkage, and it just so happens that I've been preparing the little announcement below. So here's more info:

This Spring, we've scheduled the courses on Thursday evenings, to dovetail with the Tuesday NBLUG and Perl Mongers meetings: CIS 50.71, Introduction to UNIX/Linux, and CIS 50.75, Introduction to Linux System Administration. The full-semester courses start Thursday, January 18, and online registration is open now:

--------------------
CIS 50.71 Introduction to UNIX/Linux, section 6851, Thursdays 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. (lecture usually 6:00 - 8:00):

If you're relatively new to Linux or UNIX, or if you'd just like to brush up or fill in a few gaps, then sign up now for the Thursday evening "Introduction to UNIX/Linux" class, taught by yours truly, Eric Skagerberg. It combines both hands-on and online instruction, but with grading based only on online exercises and tests. Although, of course, you'll do best to attend as many class sessions as possible, attendance won't affect your grade.

To see what's in store, open "Introduction to UNIX/Linux" at: http://www.santarosa.edu/cis/eric

But what if you've already enrolled in another Thursday night SRJC course, and the online registration system won't let you in Thursday's Intro UNIX/Linux? No problem: You can still sign up for an online-only section (5307), taught by Gary Brown, which uses the same exercises and tests.

CIS 50.71 Introduction to UNIX/Linux is part of SRJC's Computer Science A.S. degree, the Microcomputer Systems Database User certificate, the PC Specialist certificate, and several Web Site Development certificates.

--------------------
CIS 50.75 Introduction to Linux System Administration, section 6852, Thursdays 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.:

If you've already completed Introduction to UNIX/Linux, now is the time to enroll in the follow-on course, CIS 50.75, Introduction to Linux System Administration. It's been quite a while since we've offered it, and Mark Street brings his many years of expert Linux admin experience to this course, so don't miss it!
