Mark,

This is what I purchased a few months ago to totally geek out and make a 
laptop based mapping GPS  for my car. It seems like a very high quality unit 
for $25. 
It's currently out of stock but they have other similar if not identical 
units.

The company is SF based, quick to respond, offers discounts with future 
purchases and has some *really fun* geek-out and useful products.
