I love Sonic. I have super fast Sonic DSL at home. Who knows, maybe
you've even helped me when I've called for a bit of support.

The announcement of SFCCP's opening after the closure of the
well-respected California Community Colo in Fremont was a one-time
announcement, not spam. We have nothing but respect for local,
community-based ISPs like Sonic or LMI in Berkeley or countless others
I don't know about. I would say that there is plenty of space in the
colo market for a bunch of us...

> Buddy, that kind of ticks me off. Not only is that a cheap shot, but you
> don't seem to realize we (Sonic.net) have been donating space and bandwidth
> to NBLUG since their inception.

I did not know that, I'm sorry. No cheap shot intended. It's amazing
that Sonic donates space and bandwidth.

> ...so for how long have you been CISPA members?

We hadn't considered joining, as we aren't an ISP like Sonic is.

> ...so how much did you give to the EFF last year?

Organizationally, we're just getting started so have none to give
either. When we do, we will without hesitation.

> ...so how many NBLUG presentations have you presented?

None, and I'm sorry about that. I live in San Francisco, work in
Berkeley. We're an SF colo, but thought reaching out to a number a Bay
Area LUGs and tech lists with a one-time announcement would be
appropriate.

> Seriously, it really peeves me that, somehow, those who incorporate don't
> have souls. Get a grip, pally!

I have a grip, but thank you for the rhetoric. In fact, maybe we'll
incorporate someday, who knows. The key is that we're interested in
continuing the non-commercial, community colo that CCCP started and
that has spread to some other cities. It's not to knock those that
have chosen incorporation as the route to take. To reiterate, we
consider Sonic an ally. I'm sorry if that didn't make it through in
our short announcement.

> Full disclosure, dude! Please reply in the list!

Yes. And seriously, I meant not a flame or anything of the sort. The
intent was to announce and inform, not piss off, so please accept my
apologies if you were in the latter camp.

Take care,

--Ian
