I don't know if anyone else was interested in this or not.
I did a little more checking and found out a couple of things.

1) the model I was looking at is marked $549 -- but that's a
sale price. Normal price is $212 higher.
2) This model is only available with the 3 cell battery.
The projected battery life is about 2 hours. There is a 6
cell battery but that's only available on the Vista model.
3) The system maxes at 2Gb memory and has only one memory
slot. This model comes with 1Gb and a 2Gb chip is available
but not as an upgrade -- you have to buy the chip and toss
the one currently in the box.

The model with the fast (1.6GHz) chip, 2Gb of memory 120Gb
disk and 6-cell battery and Genuine Windows Vista® Business
32 :) is $749 on sale and normally $984.

I think I'll see what happens. I currently use Ubuntu.
I've used SuSE in the past and was happy with it, but kind
of soured on them after their microsoft deal.
