Yes -- it does have flash drives, but (I could be mistaken) 
I don't think flash is all that much faster than a hard disk 
especially when writes are involved.  My impression is that 
the boot-up speed on the eee is from the fact that the 
kernal is customized so it does only what is needed at 
boot-up time.  I got that from the NBLUG demo when we were 
discussing boot times for a system running ubuntu vs. Xandros.
