Think of it as an "extended trial" of their free service.

You get the 5ish GB of free storage from each of several services.
Later, when you're interested in something a bit less of a kluge, you
have given each one an extended trial & know which one(s) have been
reliable and/or whose various other "perks" (e.g. Gdrive integration
with Gmail) suit you best.

Without such a comparison in-hand, you're shopping in woeful ignorance...

Does it violate any of their TOS's?
