You could alway run oracle's virtualbox and use a virtual machine with your
current network settings since they seem to work on xp. I don't know what
your resources are like, but one advantage to a virtual machine is that you
can manipulate your image and settings without having to switch between OS'
s. Also you can clone your vm's and experiment with changes too. Sorry to
hear that your nic isn't being installed properly with ubuntu. Good luck
with the install.
