I went through your first checklist and everything checked out o.k.
when I checked my /etc/hosts.(allow|deny) I got this..

contents of /etc/hosts.allow

swat: 127.0.0.1 192.168.0.

***end***

and the contents of /etc/hosts.deny

ALL:ALL

***end***

what would I need to add to the allow to enable telnet access?
again, thanks for the help
