If eth0 is not showing up in the output of ifconfig then it's
not getting started (even though the network script says ok)...
Also since it's not in the routeing table we know it's not getting started.

/etc/conf.modules
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
