Title:  How will Next Generation Access Networks impact you?

Topic:  This presentation will describe how Next Generation Access
Networks
are required to meet the needs of new edge applications. It will
highlight
the differences between Carrier Serving Areas and Broadband Serving
Areas
and how this will impact customers. 
· What are the trends in carrier networks?
· How can packet data be used for both data and voice?
· What are Gateways?
· What is an LES Gateway?
· What are the key standards for Next Generation Access Networks?


Bio Statement:  Jim Sackman is the Chief Technical Officer for Advanced
Fibre Communications.  In this capacity, Jim is responsible for setting
the
world wide technical direction for AFC.

Directions:	From the south (Marin), take the " Old Redwood Highway" exit
on freeway 101-North and turn right at the traffic light at the end of
the
ramp.  From the north ( Santa Rosa), take the "Old Redwood Highway" exit
on
the freeway 101- South, and turn left at the traffic light at the end of
the
ramp. Follow the road as it passes over the freeway.

Coming either way, keep to your left as you come to a large intersection
with North McDowell Boulevard. Turn left onto McDowell, and turn left
again
at the second intersection, Willow road. Turn into the parking lot and
follow it around the building to the the middle entrance near the Turin
Building. The conference room is located on the ground floor of the
two-story building on the left off of the Lobby across from the Turin
building.
