Red Hat 8.0 CD problem

No problems here... Matshita CD-RW in a Compaq 1800T laptop.... and my 
Stinkpad 770 with stock CD.  Both Gnome and KDE cd players work peachy.

What is the drive make and model?  an example of the errors generated might be 
helpful.
