Amen to that. Each computer without monitor running 24 hours a day is 4 to
15 dollars a month in electricity and power's not getting cheaper. And the
fewer "wall wart" powered devices the better, too.

50 watts (a crappy early Pentium system) at $0.12 per KW = $4.32 per month
100 watts (respectable modern computer) at $0.20 per KW = $14.40 per month

So if you use under the PG+E baseline amount and have an old computer,
it's not bad, but if you use a lot of power and pay higher rates, and have
a nice thirsty computer, that's a whole premium-television tier you're
spending just to have that machine on 24/7.
