I bought a generic USB floppy for my HP laptop (Suse 9.0)
some time ago and just plugged it in and the system found it
with no problems.  From there it was one entry to the fstab
and things worked fine.

I don't think you can boot off of them however.  This would
require a selection in your BIOS, right, and I don't have
one on mine.
