[NBLUG/talk] Can Linux emulate a DV camcorder?

I want to connect a computer running Debian/testing to a DVD recorder.
The DVD recorder that has a FireWire port, but it expects the port to be
used to connect it to a DV camcorder.  I've been able to find software
for Linux to connect a computer to a DV camcorder, but it's not going to
help me if both computers are connected to each other under the
impression that the other is a DV camcorder.  So, does anyone know of a
way to make the computer act like a DV camcorder?

Right now, I'm not worried about where the video data will come from; I
have an iBook running iMovie HD that I can use to save video files as DV
streams.  Once I have the Linux/DVD recorder issues worked out, *then*
I'll worry about making the Linux computer produce its own DV stream.
