If you don't mind me jumping in here and asking, what's the easiest way to
stop/start X under Debian? I figured it out at one point to install the
nVidia drivers, but I don't even remember what I did anymore (I think
something similar to "killall X" was involved).

(BTW, I just got Slackware working on my desktop for the first time. Once I
finish tweaking the install maybe I'll report back with my experiences.)
