[NBLUG/talk] BBS nostalgia

Wow, all of this really brings me back. I ran three different
successive WWIV BBS's (Chowder Hut, Coffee Pot, and some other name I
can't remember)
It's funny because I got into the ANSI art scene a year or two after
I shut down my BBS... People are still doing it out there, kinda nuts.

This page has links to the ANSI art show that was held at a gallery
in SF, along with tons of other links:

 Fun stuff...
 Derf
(I think it's scary that my handle is old enough to vote now...)

I do remember that =) That was cool, I remember a few other boards
having similar things. It was always cool to put your own creativity

into your board. I hated the generic RG boards (I hate to admit I
was a
 renegade fanboy).
Just to throw some ON topic info to this OT thread, anyone using
Linux
and wanting a REAL BBS telnet client with REAL ANSi capabilities, I
 found this, and it rocks.

 > Anyone remember the ANSI rotator I had on The DarkSide? It was
programmed (in batch files no less) to load a different batch of ten
ANSI logoff art pics each day and special collections on special days.
Then the art would cycle for each logoff. Some users would
login/logoff just to see what was loaded that day.
