If you really want to do it on the cheap, get a cheap power inverter(12
volts to 110 style, say 200 watts) and modify it. Inside find the two big
high voltage capacitors wired for +165 and -165 volt DC sharing a common.
Wire those three connections to the same corresponding style capacitors
inside a PC power supply. Now you have a very efficient 12 volt power
supply for your PC that won't make 60 cycle buzz in the audio.

If you want to make it even more efficient you can remove the 4
transistors and associated parts from the inverter(they make the 60 cycle
AC from the +-165 DC).
