Hi All,
I'm struggling to get a new mandrake install to recognize my nic.
I've been reading through a howto on network configuration and it suggests:
" If your network card wasn't recognised at install time, don't worry: in most
cases it's either NE2000 or 3c59x compatible. Issue the command modprobe ne or
modprobe 3c59x"
In both cases I receive a message to the effect: init_module: Input/Output error
hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

I've been working with man modprobe, but the commands don't have the same effect
as listed in the man pages. For example, the man pages suggest modprobe -t net
will load a module from the drivers/net dir and sub directories, but I'm getting
"specify at least a module or a wild card like \*"

Does someone have another avenue to try and pursue? Here's info from modprobe
dmesg:

eth0: D-Link DFE-538TX (RealTek RTL8139)
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C'
eth1: VIA VT6102 Rhine-II
eth1: MII PHY found at address 1 ,status 0x7849 advertising 05e1 Link 0000.
eth0: Setting 100mpbs full-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 45e1

Thanks,

Jeff
